The Challenge

In 1889, Geauga Lake added its first attraction: a steam-powered carousel. Ever since, the park has continued to experience a series of expansions and improvements. ADG’s design/build team was contracted to seamlessly update the waterpark in two phases where ADG would update and renovate existing aquatic features and eliminate outdated sections and design and build a new 20-acre waterpark expansion.

Geauga Active Play Area

The Solution

In Phase 1, ADG designed and built new aquatic features, support systems and mechanical facilities for the existing park including a 390,000 gallon wave pool, 1,100ft adventure river and a tube complex.

Phase 2 comprised the design and construction of a $24 million, 20-acre tropical-themed expansion. ADG utilized some existing landscaping while creatively refurbishing existing framework for the new pump and filtration systems, lockers, changing rooms, restaurants and concession areas. New park features included a 4-story play tower and Coral Cove, an activity pool with basketball hoops, interactive water sprays, waterfalls and a relaxing whirlpool.

Geauga Multi Level Play Structure

The Result

Wildwater Kingdom’s superb architectural design provided visitors from across the U.S. with an enhanced waterpark experience. Unique attractions and newly updated amenities have boosted popularity, resulting in increased attendance rates.
