Cam Hoover, EpicSurf’s Sponsored Surfer Takes on a Water Park Wave Pool Powered by ADG’s Wave Technology!

July 6, 2023 (Cohoes, NY) This past week, Cam Hoover, a 16 year old aspiring World Surf League professional surfer and EpicSurf’s sponsored surfer, tried out a 26,000 sqft water park wave pool, putting her surf skills to the test!

This wave pool, designed and built by Aquatic Development Group (ADG) features ADG Wave technology, specifically the company’s Aquawave system. Powering out waves up to 5’ high, this water park wave pool was not designed for surfing, but as the world leader in wave generation and a heritage of supplying waves in over 550+ parks around the world – this wave pool was indeed able to be surfed by Cam and her surfer friends.

The wave pool also features ADG’s VaraWave pattern programmer offering 8 different wave patterns that cycle throughout the day – ranging from roller waves, diamond waves, diagonal and more. Cam and her friends utilized the wave pool’s ‘Center Peak V’ pattern where they were able to practice their front/back side, carving and long board walk over tricks. The group surfed for over 4 hours before park hours and were able to enjoy the swells of the wave pool without waiting for ocean waves.

“The nice part about this pool is that the waves just never quit,” said Cory Cartier, surf instructor. “I caught more waves shredding on this wave pool than I ever could in a day at the ocean.”

Cam was not only able to teach her friends how to surf the pool but was able to get several runs herself touting that her ability to do so can be credited back to her experience surfing the EpicSurf wave.

“I am so excited about promoting EpicSurf – not only do I believe it is an excellent stationary deep water wave for beginners to learn to surf because of the adjustable wave height and training bars – but also for more experienced riders to hone their skillset,” said Cam Hoover WSL qualifying series competitor, “I have been able to progress my skills in an accelerated timeframe because of EpicSurf. Instead of surfing in the ocean, having to paddle out, wait for waves – I can just go go go on EpicSurf and it has really allowed me to grow as a surfer and a competitor. I can’t wait to get back on EpicSurf as I train for my summer of competitions.”

Cam has kicked off her summer surf competition tour preparing for the next part of the WSL Short Board Tour in California. EpicSurf is proud to support Cam on her surf tour and is excited to see her progress in her surf career. Surf’s up and best of luck Cam!
