ADG and Team Highlighted in InterPark for Work on Bavarian Blast Waterpark

We’re proud to share that Aquatic Development Group (ADG) was recently featured in InterPark Magazine, a leading B2B publication serving the global amusement and attractions industry. The article showcases our contributions to the new Bavarian Blast Waterpark at the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

This 170,000-square-foot indoor waterpark is a major addition to the Bavarian Inn Lodge’s offerings, designed to transform the resort into a year-round destination with multiple offerings for their guests. InterPark highlights the immersive Bavarian-based theme surrounding an array of attractions including a 5,130 sqft wave pool, a 300 ft action river, 16 water slides, family play areas, a swim-up adult bar, and much more!

ADG’s involvement was central to the project’s success. As explained by Ray Lauenstein, ADG’s Director of Business Development- Specialty Construction, our team took the owner’s initial vision and developed it into a detailed, actionable concept plan. This included architectural and engineering design, specialty construction, and operational logistics to ensure a seamless guest experience combined with robust back-of-house infrastructure. Ray remarked in the article, “What you don’t see is truly half the battle,” emphasizing the critical but often unseen work involved in the park’s complex water systems and support facilities.

The InterPark feature also describes how ADG worked closely with partners to integrate a diverse array of water attractions while maintaining cohesive guest flow and visual appeal. One example is the unique three-story Bavarian castle tower, which serves as a thematic anchor and a focal point for the park’s immersive storytelling.

The article further highlights some of the challenges the project team overcame, such as sealing transitions between indoor and outdoor water features to maintain energy efficiency in Michigan’s climate and reworking the children’s play area multiple times to balance spatial requirements. Ray shared how ADG called “time out” during the design process to bring fresh ideas that ultimately met the owner’s needs and fit within the overall park layout. This is a demonstration of the knowledge, expertise, and judgement within the ADG team when bringing a project to the finish line.

Beyond the construction phase, ADG’s partnership with the Bavarian Inn Lodge continues. Ray notes that ADG remains committed to supporting the resort through ongoing operational check-ins and responsive service, ensuring the waterpark’s success for years to come.

We’re honored that InterPark recognized ADG’s expertise and collaborative approach on such an exciting project. Bavarian Blast Waterpark stands as a great example of how integrated design and specialty building come together to create memorable guest experiences that can both honor local heritage while pushing the boundaries of aquatic entertainment.
