RENOVATE. REFRESH. CAPTIVATE. The Most Cost-Effective Way to Add an Attraction.
Keeping your attraction mix fresh is always top of mind if you’re a water park owner or operator. As you begin making plans for the next new addition to your waterpark, consider how a renovation could be part of the equation.
Take a look at how some popular waterparks like Camelbeach, Zoombezi Bay, and Water World have chosen to allocate their attraction dollars into improving and renovating existing areas of their park to refresh and captivate their guests with new attractions that stretched their budget and didn’t break the bank!

CAMELBEACH (Tannersville, PA)
NEW KIDS PLAY STRUCTURE INSIDE SAME FOOTPRINT
Camelbeach sought to replace an old, outdated multi-level play structure, with a new and more exciting play structure in order to revitalize the area.
ADG utilized the existing footprint to introduce ‘Camel Cove’ a bright and inviting kids play area with play features, water fountains and side wall seating for parents. The Camel Cove MLPS renovation was a huge success and marked the third phase working with ADG.
ZOOMBEZI BAY AT COLUMBUS ZOO (COLUMBUS, OH)
NEW RIVER BUILT WITHIN EXISTING RIVER FOUNDATION
Built in 1991, Zoombezi Bay’s adults-only lazy river attraction and swim-up bar were definitely starting to show their age. Thinking they would have to start with a complete tear-down and redesign, Zoombezi Bay contacted their long-time design/build partner ADG. After carefully surveying the river, ADG was able to provide a cost (and time) saving solution with a design and engineering package that enabled them to utilize the existing river foundation.
The new 700ft long ‘Croctail Creek’ not only refreshed and reenergized the area, it also featured a lounge pool with in-water seating and heated water. The swim-up ‘Sandbar’ serves adult drinks and can also be accessed for walk-up service.
HYLAND HILLS WATER WORLD (DENVER, CO)
TRANSFORMED UNDER-UTILIZED WAVE POOL INTO BOOGIE BOARDING RIDE
Water World wanted to replace an existing underutilized wave pool and create an exciting and unique attraction that would re-energize a once-popular area yet still provide a place for families to gather. Since the park already had another large and very popular wave pool, ADG redesigned this space to feature two key attractions – the world’s first Boogie Boarding Surf/Swim Pool and separate Kids Mini Wave Pool.
Cabanas, shaded lounge areas, convenient amenities, and F&B services were also incorporated into the new space to generate additional revenue and create what is now one of the park’s most popular destinations.
WET ‘N’ WILD TORONTO (Brampton, ON)
RENOVATE A PARK WITH COSTS SAVING SOLUTIONS
When it comes to creating a whole new park, from concept to completion, no one delivers like ADG. Check out the case at Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto!
In the mid-2000s Premier Parks purchased an old abandoned waterpark and wanted to renovate, redesign, and redevelop it to meet not only their high standards but that of the Wet ‘n’ Wild brand. ADG’s design/build team included not only world-class attractions and amenities throughout the park, but electrical upgrades, filtration systems, operational enhancements, and new walkways for improved guest circulation patterns throughout the park. One example – the river ride featured above: added boosters to increase speed and improve turnover to 3 hours
