Designed and built by Aquatic Development Group, Inc., (ADG) the new Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags over Georgia is the largest expansion in Six Flag’s 47-year history and one of the largest capital investments for 2014 at any of the company’s parks.
“Our entirely new water park will further support our goal of delivering a world-class destination for all ages,” said Six Flags over Georgia Park President, Dale Kaetzel. “This multi-million dollar investment will be a ‘must do’ experience for anyone living in or visiting Metro Atlanta.”
Delivering powerful results are what ADG park designs are all about. Taking a unique industry perspective in the design and development of its water parks, ADG focuses first on achieving their client’s goals rather than pushing the latest product, managing to create the right combination of innovative recreational attractions and revenue generating design that fits the needs and environment of each specific client. From placement of the food and beverage vendors, to lounge chairs, towel drops and garbage receptacles, each element of the park is carefully evaluated for maximum guest satisfaction and profitability enhancement. The result is a profitable and successful waterpark of which ADG’s clients can be proud.
Built on the landscape that was once occupied by Southern Star Amphitheater, Six Flags over Georgia’s Hurricane Harbor is themed around a remote Caribbean getaway and features several new water attractions and guest amenities, incorporating thrill rides as well as relaxing family fun. The park’s staple attraction, the impressive Calypso Bay, a 38,000 square foot wave pool custom designed by ADG, encourages guests to soak up the sun and cool off all summer long. It has a real ocean feel and dual entry access points, a unique feature not found in many other water parks. These two beach entries combined are 440 feet in length and create a wave breaking pattern that is unlike any other wave pool. Equipped with two massive Wavetek® wave generators manufactured by ADG, this wave pool recreates an authentic ocean experience with four foot waves that break in eight different wave patterns to mimic the high surf of the ocean.
