With their one-of-a-kind peninsula styled wave pool, ADG designed Waldameer’s WaterWorld park with an innovative “giant wave pool” expansion that would reduce overall operating costs and provide guests of all ages with a memorable experience.

So Much History, So Much Fun!

As large theme parks dominate the amusement industry, the historic Waldameer Park continues to grow and add new attractions to carry on its tradition of offering affordable family fun to all who come through its gates. And this season was no different when the 120 year old amusement and water park in Erie, PA debuted their new “Giant Wave Pool” designed and build by Aquatic Development Group, Inc. to open in the 2015 season.

Built to Last

Planning for Water World’s new wave pool was extensive.

Besides being large, ADG designed the 26,000 sqft wave pool with a unique layout that features a peninsula jutting out into the center from the back wall, essentially creating two pools out of one. This design was intentional in order to allow each side of the wave pool to be operated independently, providing the option to run only one side of the pool on a less crowded day.

“This saves labor, electricity and wear on the wave generation equipment,” says Steve Gorman, President of Waldameer & Water World. Efficiency and cost-effectiveness were important in the design and application of the wave pool.
